Introduction
The water source for irrigation systems is normally the water meter.
From the meter, water flows through a Pressure vacuum breaker, or PVB. A PVB
prevents contaminated water from entering back into the clean house water.
This safety device is usually located along the narrow sides of a house, behind
a shrub or fence. After flowing out of the PVB, water enters into the irrigation system mainline.
There is not enough water to cover a yard all at once, so it must
be done
one section at a time. These sections are also know as zones. Each zone is
operated by a electric valve. Valves run for a designated amount of time, then cycle to the next.
Zone cycling is controlled by a automatic timer.
Timers are usually installed in garages, with irrigation wiring going
to them from all the valves in the yard. Electricity for the sysem is low voltage, 24 volts. Timers have
battery backup to keep memory in the event of a power outage, and are installed with a rain sensor. Rain sensors
prevent watering during and after it has rained.
Three types of sprinkler heads are used for irrigation. The first
type, rotors, are used for large grass areas. The second type is a riser, used for
irrigation of shrubs and flowerbeds. The third type of spray head is a pop-up. These come
in a assortment of different sizes, 4, 6, and 12 inch. They are
used for both smaller grass areas and flowerbeds.
Parts
Green Oasis uses two manufactures for irrigation components,
Rainbird and
Hunter. Instead of using one company exclusively, we take the best of
what both these two leading companies have to offer. All components are commercial grade, and the best series level from
both are used.
Installation
Our company uses a unique
machine that digs a very narrow and deep
ditch for grass. Once the piping is installed, dirt is packed back into the ditch and reseamed by rakes.
This seam is gone in several weeks, whereas hand
digging sod leaves a scar for some time. We refer to this method as a surgical
installation, not nearly as intrusive as hand digging can be.
PVBs are isolated from view, with a isolation valve located in
between a water source for freeze protection. Wiring in the garage is installed behind the wall, not
stapled to the wall like many companies do, giving a clean appearence. Sprinkler heads are neatly placed so that
they will not be damaged or spray on objects that do not require water.
After installation is complete, the customer's yard is thoroughly cleaned.
The sprinkler system is then adjusted and set for automatic operation.
We will then return in several weeks for the final walk through, adjusting spray heads one more time and familiarizing
the owner with their system.
Warranty
Each sprinkler system comes with a written three year warranty
that
covers parts and labor. Not only is three years hard to beat, any customer
can extend thier warranty for referring us to another customer. A referral from
a past installation client will add one more year on to thier exsisting warranty.
No other competitor offers this incentive!
Payment
Two weeks after the break-in period, payment is due
when we return
for the final walk through and present the invoice. Green Oasis accepts cash,
or possibly we can arrange installments to help ease financial constraints.
